Nouns -- person, place, thing (object), idea. The more specific the noun, the better. Take house for example. House could be any house. How about mansion or apartment or duplex? Notice how these are more specific?
Adjectives -- restrict or limit the meaning of the noun. Examples:

"I am walking into the room" can mean any kind of walking. Try jogging -- strutting -- sauntering -- strolling -- marching. Notice how each of these verbs brings a more specific image to mind.
